How Manga Translator Z works on Asura Scans

Install the extension, open any chapter on asuracomic.net, and press T. Speech bubbles get detected by the bundled ONNX YOLO model, the original Japanese / Korean / Chinese text is read by GPT-5.4-mini vision, and translations render directly inside each bubble in a manga font (Komika Hand by default). Original art stays underneath — hover any bubble to flash the source language back.

Long-strip vertical reader. URLs follow the pattern /series/<slug>-chapter-<n>. Images are server-rendered as a list, no SPA.

• Korean raw chapters render cleanly through MTZ — the YOLO model was trained on Korean speech-balloon shapes too, not just Japanese
• Asura's series detail page links the raw Korean chapter and the Asura-translated version side by side; install MTZ and the raw becomes readable in your language without waiting for the official TL
• Per-bubble gender detection works well on action manhwa — male protagonists' lines play with the male voice, female support cast with the female voice when you click the 🔊 button

Quirks & what to watch for

• Asura sometimes mirrors the same chapter under multiple slugs — the URL changes but the image hash doesn't, so MTZ's cache hits across mirrors with no extra cost
• Vertical-scroll readers can cause MTZ to delay translation if you scroll faster than the image decoder — the overlay catches up after ~200ms
