How Manga Translator Z works on ComicK

Install the extension, open any chapter on comick.io, and press T. Speech bubbles get detected by the bundled ONNX YOLO model, the original Japanese / Korean / Chinese text is read by GPT-5.4-mini vision, and translations render directly inside each bubble in a manga font (Komika Hand by default). Original art stays underneath — hover any bubble to flash the source language back.

Long-strip vertical reader by default. Image URLs are deduped by hash and served from Cloudflare R2.

What works on ComicK

• Korean source language auto-detection on any chapter tagged language=ko
• Fast-fetch mode: ComicK's chapter list page links directly into the reader, and MTZ translates the moment images decode — no separate 'click to translate' step needed
• Side-by-side mode — keep the raw Korean and the English translation visible at once, useful for language learners

Quirks & what to watch for

• ComicK occasionally hot-swaps a CDN image during a session if a takedown happens; MTZ re-detects bubbles on the new image but you'll see a brief flash of the raw before the new translation lands
• The 'reading direction' setting on ComicK applies to the page-flip animation only; MTZ honors the natural top-to-bottom flow of strip readers regardless
