How Manga Translator Z works on MangaSee

Install the extension, open any chapter on mangasee123.com, and press T. Speech bubbles get detected by the bundled ONNX YOLO model, the original Japanese / Korean / Chinese text is read by GPT-5.4-mini vision, and translations render directly inside each bubble in a manga font (Komika Hand by default). Original art stays underneath — hover any bubble to flash the source language back.

Paginated reader at /read-online/<slug>-chapter-<n>-page-<p>.html. Plain HTML, no SPA framework — MTZ's MutationObserver picks up page changes via URL change.

What works on MangaSee

• Page-flip detection: arrow keys or click navigation triggers a fresh translation on the new page, with prefetch for the next 2 pages already cached
• Lightweight DOM means MTZ injects its overlay canvas without competing with framework re-renders
• Save translated page as PNG — the simple URL structure makes the right-click 'Save translated' option produce nicely-named files

Quirks & what to watch for

• MangaSee occasionally serves a placeholder if a page is being re-encoded; MTZ's bubble detector returns zero boxes on placeholders so no failed translation is recorded
• Some chapters are mirrored from older scanlations with hardcoded English text — filter by language tag if available, or skip those chapters
