The extension itself is free. Translation costs depend on the backend you choose:

Hosted Server (default) — Our managed backend at mtz-api.peakproductivity.online. Free tier with a weekly page quota; paid Day Pass / Starter / Power tiers unlock more usage. No setup — this is what's selected out of the box.
OpenAI Vision (BYOK) — Bring your own OpenAI API key. You pay OpenAI directly, approximately $0.01–0.05 per page depending on the model.
Ollama (Local) — Completely free. Runs on your own hardware, offline.

The extension works on virtually any website that displays manga pages as standard HTML images. It does not use site-specific integrations — it detects manga images based on size and aspect ratio. This means it works on manga readers, manhwa sites, webtoon platforms, and even individual manga images on blogs or forums.

Translation quality depends on the AI model and backend you choose:

GPT-4o — Highest quality, handles nuance and idioms well
GPT-5.4 Mini — Very good quality at lower cost
GPT-5.4 Nano — Good quality, fastest response
Ollama models — Quality varies by model. Larger models (12B+) generally produce better results

Using the glossary and multi-page context features significantly improves consistency.

Yes, using the Ollama backend. Install Ollama on your machine, pull a vision-capable model (e.g., gemma3:12b), and configure the extension to use Ollama. Everything runs locally — bubble detection, OCR, and translation. No internet connection needed after initial setup.

Your privacy depends on the backend:

Bubble detection — Always runs locally in your browser via ONNX WASM. No data leaves your machine for detection.
Hosted Server (default) — Cropped bubble images are sent to mtz-api.peakproductivity.online for OCR + translation + inpainting. We don't store pages or build user profiles; see the Privacy Policy.
OpenAI Vision (BYOK) — Cropped bubble images are sent to OpenAI's API. Subject to OpenAI's data usage policies.
Ollama — Everything stays on your machine. Complete privacy, no network calls.

The extension does not track browsing history, collect personal data, or send analytics.
