Japanese listening practice with manga

Listening is the skill most self-study skips, because input at the right level is hard to find. Manga fixes the level problem, you choose it, and the extension reads every line aloud in a natural voice so you can hear it and say it back.

See it in action

Live, right on the page

Study mode adds the reading over every kanji and reads the line aloud. Tap play to hear it.

Read it, hear it, say it

In Study mode, press the speaker on any bubble and a native voice reads the line while the words highlight in time. That highlight is the whole trick for shadowing: you can follow along and repeat each phrase the instant you hear it, instead of guessing where you are in the sentence.

Why shadowing works

Repeating speech immediately trains pronunciation, rhythm, and pitch at the same time, the parts of a language a textbook cannot give you. And manga dialogue is real, casual speech, contractions, sentence-final particles, emotion, not the careful sentences of a listening exercise.

FAQ

Is it a real native voice?

Yes, lines are read by natural neural voices. The words highlight in time so you can shadow them accurately.

Can I use it for shadowing?

That is exactly what it is built for: the voice reads each line while the words light up, so you can repeat in step instead of losing your place.

Does listening work for Korean and Chinese too?

Yes. Korean and Chinese lines are read by native voices as well. Furigana is Japanese-only, but the voice covers all three.
